Some boats are built to look good sitting in the driveway.
Others are built to get dirty, get wet, chase fish, explore new water and keep going long after the boat ramp disappears in the rear-view mirror.
The Makocraft 386 Topper Tracker ADU Edition belongs firmly in the second category.
Created in collaboration with the team at Aussie Destinations Unknown (ADU), this special-edition 386 Topper Tracker has been designed around a simple idea: build a small aluminium boat that is genuinely ready for adventure.
Not overloaded with unnecessary extras. Not built just for show. Just a tough, practical, incredibly capable little boat with the right equipment in all the right places.
Small boat. Serious capability.
At 3.86 metres, the 386 Topper Tracker is compact enough to tow, launch and handle with ease, but it packs an impressive amount of usable space into a small footprint.
With a 1.75-metre beam, seating for four and a maximum rating of 20hp, it’s an ideal platform for everything from weekend fishing trips and family adventures to exploring remote waterways and getting into those hard-to-reach spots.
And because the boat weighs just 105kg before the motor and trailer, it is incredibly manageable for those who want a boat that’s easy to own as well as easy to enjoy.
But the real difference with the ADU Edition is what happens when you start looking closely.
Designed with real-world adventure in mind
Every element of the ADU Edition has been selected with actual time on the water in mind.
The boat features front and rear casting decks with secure hatch storage, drop-in flooring and side decks, short side pockets and a tank hatch. Four alloy riveted-in rod holders provide a solid place to keep your gear without relying on swivel mounts, while a rear step and stainless-steel folding ladder make getting in and out of the water easy.
It’s practical boating, stripped back to what matters.
Because when you’re miles from the boat ramp, it’s the details that count.
Tough on the outside. Comfortable underneath.
The ADU Edition gets a distinctive two-tone finish, with a black exterior and white interior, while the gunwales and chines are left unpainted to retain that raw, rugged Makocraft aluminium look.
Then there’s the custom EVA flooring.
Rather than simply covering the main floor, EVA has been fitted across the foredeck, side decks, front and rear casting decks, drop-in floor and side pockets.
That means more grip underfoot, more comfort during long days standing and fishing, and a finished feel that belies the boat’s rugged purpose.
It’s the sort of upgrade you appreciate more and more the longer you spend on the water.
Built to be rigged your way
One of the great things about a small boat is being able to make it your own.
The ADU Edition comes equipped with two Railblaza side-deck track loader rails, along with a Railblaza sounder mount and dedicated sounder storage mount.
That gives owners the flexibility to configure their boat around the way they fish, explore and use it.
The timber boards and flooring have also been upgraded to Thermolight boards — lighter, stronger and designed to stand up to the demands of regular use.
And for those longer days, two clip-on cushions for the thwart seats add another level of comfort.
It’s a small boat that has been thought through properly.
The complete package
The ADU Edition doesn’t stop at the hull.
The package includes a 20hp Tohatsu long-shaft outboard, a Dunbier Traveller trailer and a Garmin 75cv Echomap sounder with GT20 transducer.
In other words, you can get it, hitch it up and head off.
That’s really what this boat is about.
Less time worrying about what you need to add.
More time planning where you’re going.
Adventure doesn’t have to mean complicated
There’s something incredibly appealing about a boat like the 386 Topper Tracker ADU Edition.
It’s not intimidating. It’s not unnecessarily complicated. You don’t need a massive tow vehicle or a huge shed to own one.
It’s a boat that makes getting on the water easy.
And sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
A quiet morning chasing a few fish. A weekend away exploring a new waterway. A trip with the kids. A remote camping adventure. Or simply hitching up on a Friday afternoon and disappearing for a couple of days.
Because boating isn’t always about having the biggest boat.
It’s about having the right boat for the way you want to live.
A special edition for people who actually use their boats
The Makocraft 386 Topper Tracker ADU Edition is a collaboration built around that philosophy.
It’s tough where it needs to be. Comfortable where it matters. Practical without being boring and purposeful without sacrificing style.
And most importantly, it’s built for people who don’t just want a boat sitting in the driveway.
They want to use it.
Go further. Explore more. Chase better water. Find new places.
That’s what the ADU Edition is all about.
